In Raleigh several months ago, I noticed a vehicle that had been stopped
by the local police. The vehicle was beat up and nearly nonfunctional. Cracked
windshield, busted headlight, driver door missing and a flat tire. I wondered
in amazament how it was moving on its own. It was no doubt that this vehicle
had been through some pretty tough times. In like manner, storms of life can
do a lot of damage. People get tossed around by high stress situations and as
you look at them you wonder how they continue on. Many people have gone through
it all and still keep on with their way of life. Just like the vehicle got banged
up because of the careless driver, so do we get banged up by the bad choices
we sometimes make. Psalms 107:29 said, "he calms the storm so that the
waves are still". Here, we have an indication that "He" or God
is the one who can calm the storms of our lives. We may look beat up, but we
still run. May God help us to make the right choices in life that get us through
those difficult storms.
